Sunrise FFO - Sep 2017 Digest Vol 3, Issue #1 In this issue: |
| FFO President's Intro |
|
Welcome to a new school year, [First_Name]! This monthly FFO Email Digest is designed to keep you up to date on what's happening with FFO events at Sunrise Drive Elementary. Please share with friends and family to learn about events, volunteer opportunities, grants, and more! The FFO is a non-profit 501(c)(3) and similar to a PTA/PTO, except we do not pay national dues or commit money to political action committees. All Sunrise families and teachers are members that work together to create a vibrant learning environment with lots of community and extracurricular events for the students. Please join us at the General FFO meeting on September 22 at 8:05 AM. Due to the Book Fair, we will meet at the open-air amphitheater (next to the MPR). Since we won’t be able to use a projector outside, be sure to download the agenda on your smartphone. Agendas are emailed to all families prior to the meeting. If you still have questions about the FFO, you can learn more on our website: sunriseffo.org Sincerely, — Kate Spaulding (FFO President) Note: We respect your privacy and hope you welcome this monthly email. If not, please accept our apologies and kindly use the unsubscribe link at the bottom or contact our communication volunteer, Tim Colson, with any questions! |
| Special Announcement - MySchoolAnywhere |
|
Do you find it as hard as we do to keep track of your volunteer signups, emails, events, and connecting with friends at Sunrise? This year, we found a service called MySchoolAnywhere (MSA), built by busy parents, that we believe will help! Over the next few days, you will receive two emails from MSA. The first email will have a secure link for you to confirm your information and Opt-In/UnHide from the directory. The pre-populated form will only take a minute to complete. The second email should arrive Friday to invite you to login to the MSA web site. You will have access to the directory of family/faculty, manage signups, and more! We'll also send a link for the MSA mobile app so you can do all this plus see the school calendar too, on your phone! Yay! After everyone is invited, we'll start to move all signups into MSA. Learn more in this brief MySchoolAnywhere intro video... and watch for your invite! – Tim Colson (VP Communication) |

The FFO organizes, operates, and communicates to all families and faculty the many Sunrise, CFSD, and community programs and events. We also generate funding to support the vibrant learning environment and our programs and events. Next general meeting is Friday, Sep 22 at 8:05 AM. |
| Grants at Work! |
|
The FFO grants program presents an important opportunity for staff and parents to work together to benefit the entire Sunrise community. By using FFO funds, we can expand Sunrise’s ability to meet specific educational needs of our children by paying for field trips, artists-in-residence, guest authors, the Sunrise Garden, and numerous other special programs for our students. Teachers, staff, family members and students may submit grant proposals to the Grants Chair who presents them to the FFO Exec board for review. Exec approved proposals are brought to the General FFO Meetings for discussion and a deciding vote. Approved Grants

| Spirit of Sunrise |
Annual Direct Donation CampaignSunrise Drive FFO is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Much of the FFO budget comes from direct donations from families. We call our most important annual drive to raise funds, the Spirit of Sunrise campaign! Donations to Spirit of Sunrise help fund the grants (above), student field trips, Science Day, Artists-in-Residence, Community Garden, 5th Grade Legacy Project, Lego robotics kits, playground equipment, Spiders and Cider and many more events and activities for our children! Please support our students! Make a donation through our online form … or drop a check payable to “Sunrise Drive FFO” in the FFO lock box in the Sunrise Office. The suggested amount is fifty dollars ($50) per student; however, any amount is appreciated and all donations are tax deductible. Donations of $250 or more will receive a letter for tax reporting. Thank you for your generosity! Please contact us with any questions. |
