Every year, PreK-12th grade students from across Southern Arizona participate in a SARSEF (Southern Arizona Research, Science and Engineering Foundation)-affiliated fair, conducting research projects to be considered as a representative of their school at the SARSEF Regional Fair, a week-long competition and celebration of their achievements.
Around 1,600 projects compete at the SARSEF Regional Fair, and over $100,000 in prizes, trips, and scholarships are awarded, thanks to community support.

Important dates for 2024-2025:
- Dec 5, 2024: Science Night in the MPR
- Jan 15, 2024: Science Day
- Feb 7, 2025: All projects need to be completed & notebooks are due to your classroom teacher
- Feb 10-14, 2025: Sunrise Drive science fair judging
- Feb 23, 2025: Last day to submit the list for SARSEF – Coordinator will be submitting qualified projects
- Mar 1-6, 2025: SARSEF virtual exhibit opens
- Mar 7, 2025: SARSEF winners announced online
- Mar 8, 2025, 10a-11:30a: SARSEF Celebration! Elementary School Awards Ceremony at Reid Park (outdoor bandshell)
- Mar 13, 2025: KIVA – Sunrise Drive Science Fair (certificates/medals/awards distributed)
Students must use their school email account to create a Google Slides presentation for their science fair project and share it with their teacher when completed. Students must complete their Science Fair investigations and notebooks by February 7th, 2025. Children will be responsible for completing each step of the science investigation at home.
